Being a crab on a maledivian island doesn’t seem too bad 🦀. . Serious topic, though: I watched a movie the other day about the relation between our physical health and mind. Stress is a daily companion of our everyday life. Some days are more stressful, some days are less stressful. . . We differentiate between three stress types, which put us in the so called “fight or flight“-mode: • physical stress: accidents, injuries, falls, traumas. • chemical stress: bacteria, viruses, hormones, foods, heavy metals, blood sugar levels, hangovers. • emotional stress: family tragedies, loss, job, finances. On a daily basis, all of these factors produce stress hormones which knock our body out of balance. As a result of this chronic stress, we become physically and/or mentally sick. . Meditation is a great opportunity to shut down the “fight or flight“ mode. It stimulates our parasympathetic (relaxing) nervous system, meaning that mediation releases stress. . Since I started teaching yoga on a regular basis, people talk to me after my classes to say thank you for being relaxed, and able to release stress. It doesn’t matter what kind of mediation practice we use. It could be running, walking, hiking, taking a bath, doing yoga, or just sitting still. The most important thing is: listen to your breath, try to avoid thinking of anything or anybody except YOU, and do it regularly (=every single day!) . #mediation #heal
A little reminder: ‘What if? - statements throw fuel on the fire of stress and worry. Things can go in a million different directions, and the more time you spend worrying about the possibilities, the less time you'll spend focusing on taking action that will calm you down and keep your stress under control.’ . #doit #showergoals #oneyearagotoday
“Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying: I will try again tomorrow”. Sometimes change is necessary. I’m saying goodbye to the quote that reminded me every day to never give up. Let’s see what quote inspires me from now on... #greyisthenewrosé #change #needapainterlikeme ?
